With the Premier League all done and dusted, we’re left with a rather large football and fantasy football-shaped hole in our lives.
And with only a handful of pre-season friendlies and internationals to occupy our lives over the summer, we’ve entered a rather bizarre period of reflection.
Dream Team 2017/18
How does the game work?
- This year’s fantasy football game will absolutely FREE for all players to play
- The total prize pot is an approximated £750,000
- Game Weeks will run from Friday to Thursday
- £50m budget on 11 eligible players
Our attention has turned to England this week after their draw with Scotland on Saturday and friendly with France on Tuesday night.
With that in mind, we’ve decided to look back at the best Premier League-based England stars on Dream Team last season based on points.
Hold on to your red and white wigs, because here’s what it looks like:
GOALKEEPER
With Joe Hart strutting his stuff in Italy with Torino, Fraser Forster (118 points) has come in as our England No 1 after a typically solid season with Southampton.
In fact, the towering shot-stopper was only pipped to Dream Team’s highest scoring goalie by Spurs’ Hugo Lloris.
In the real world, Forster is very much still an understudy to Hart, with Jordan Pickford and Tom Heaton also banging on the door.
DEFENCE
We’ve got ourselves a pretty solid back-four in our Three Lions line-up, with centre-back pairing Gary Cahill (181 points) and Chris Smalling (137 points) flanked by Ryan Bertrand (121 points) and Kyle Walker (128 points).
Danny Rose should be here on merit, but misses out due to missing a large chunk of last season.
MIDFIELD
Our midfield three might seem a little light, but you can’t argue with their pedigree.
There’s no qualms from us that Dele Alli (219 points) and Raheem Sterling (159 points) have made our team, while West Ham’s fan favourite Michail Antonio (118 points) will give fantasy managers some food for thought next season.
ATTACK
We’d definitely make Harry Kane (305 points) our captain after the season he’s had, and we’re glad Gareth Southgate has followed suit.
And with Jamie Vardy (153 points) and Theo Walcott (161 points) alongside, we’re pretty confident this trio could unlock even the most adept defences.
