The Premier League season might be done and dusted for another year, but we’ve already started daydreaming about the prospect of next season’s fantasy football game.
With no major international tournament this summer, unlike this time 12 months ago, we feel the average football punter has earned a well-earned rest before we go again in August.
And boy will we go again, with the Dream Team game back and better than ever before for the 2017/18 season.
How big is the prize pot?
Despite the game being absolute free for all players to play next season, the prize pot remains a whopping £750,000.
That would have bought you Riyad Mahrez just a few years ago before Leicester snapped him up for a paltry £425,000 in January 2014.
When can I sign up?
You can start getting your teams in as early as July 3 2017 – some six weeks before the Premier League season gets underway.
That gives you an awfully long time to monitor the transfer market and choose your team accordingly, with Bernardo Silva the first major coup of the summer after his £43m move to Manchester City.
The closing date for the season game, therefore, will be the first day of the Premier League campaign on August 12 2017.
How does the game work?
- As mentioned earlier, this year’s game will absolutely FREE for all players to play
- Game Weeks will run from Friday to Thursday
- £50m budget on 11 eligible players
- Factors in both domestic and European cup competitions
- Player prices will fluctuate every Game Week depending on form
- You’ll be able to create Mini Leagues with your friends up until September 7 2017
- Head to Head leagues will close as soon as the first ball is kicked on day one
When will player prices be revealed?
Whether it’s Hugo Lloris, Cezar Azpilicueta, Eden Hazard or Alexis Sanchez, every position matters in Dream Team. The prices for all the eligible players on the game will become available around the end of June/start of July.
What other games can I play?
The standard Dream Team season game is your bread and butter, but Dream Team Weekender and Dream Team Europe will also be back in 2017/18.
Weekender sees you pick seven players in the Saturday and Sunday games on a weekly basis, with smaller cash prizes at stake.
The Europe game will return, as normal, when the Champions League and Europa League reach the knockout stages in February 2018.
