Manchester United produced an exceptionally professional performance to win the Europa League and qualify for next season’s Champions League.
On an extremely poignant night after the terrorist attacks in Manchester earlier this week, Jose Mourinho’s United side produced a display the city would have been proud of.
The Red Devils were never in doubt in Stockholm, winning via goals from Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan either side of half time to earn a comfortable win 2-0 over Ajax.
Pogba opened the scoring when his ambitious strike was heavily deflected and left Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana completely flat-footed.
United’s tactics stifled a bristling Ajax side and they doubled their lead when Mkhitaryan acrobatically doubled their lead.
Pogba has come in for some criticism this season for his performances, but his fortunate goal tonight was enough for some United fans to think it justified the world record price tag United forked out for him last summer:
