Modern football, for all its quality, drama and excitement, is occasionally pretty s**t.
This afternoon, Arsene Wenger recorded his fist league win over long-time adversary Jose Mourinho as Arsenal beat Man United 2-0 at the Emirates.
In doing so, the Gunners also ended United’s 25-game unbeaten streak in the league.
How did the Arsenal’s bench react to such a win?
By whipping out the Malteasers of course…
Now while we’ve got nothing against Malteasers (easily top five chocolate-based snacks) it hardly seemed an appropriate accompaniment for a Premier League clash between two of the biggest clubs in the world.
Sky Sports commentator Gary Neville was appalled.
You could hear the disgust in his voice as he asked: “Are they passing Malteasers around on the bench?”
Yes, Gary, yes they were.
Imagine that in the days of Roy Keane v Patrick Vieira.
