The football world came together to applause an astonishing feat this evening.
Arsenal’s second choice goalkeeper completed an unbelievable achievement of keeping a clean sheet with David Luiz and Shkodran Mustafi defending in front of him.
Now the club are going to erect a statue outside the Emirates to honour the Argentinian.
Both defenders have been recognised as some of the most calamitous in Premier League history which makes Martinez’ clean sheet so impressive.
Arsenal’s unofficial statue manager Lee Satchell said the club had no choice but to instantly sanction the statue and induct Martinez into the Gunners’ Hall of Fame alongside the likes of the Invincibles.
“Listen, what Martinez has achieved tonight, to stop the other team scoring while Luiz and Mustafi pretend to defend in front of him, is nothing short of miraculous,” Satchell said.
“Yes, Bergkamp may have scored that goal and Tony Adams might have captained a season unbeaten but neither of those are comparable to Emi’s feat.”
The Adams statue currently outside the Emirates is to be replaced with a far bigger bust of Martinez, according to Satchell.
That’s despite Martinez only having made seven appearances for the club and likely going back to the bench as domestic football returns.
