The Carabao Cup draw was delayed after Pep Guardiola complained about the state of the balls being used.
Despite pulling in A-list celebrities Phil Tufnell and Matt Dawson the Carabao Cup draw was delayed following the hitch.
It comes days after the organisers of the tournament were forced to defend the state of the balls used in Man City’s game with Wolves.
Unofficial spokesman for the tournament, Lee Satchell, explained: “We were all set to go.
“Tuffers and Dawson were ready to start the draw.
“We had practised enough to make sure Bristol City v Man United would be first out the hat, just to keep Jose Mourinho happy.
“But then Pep came storming through, with Fernandinho and Nicolas Otamendi either side of him, demanding to see the balls.
“He said that he didn’t trust anything to do with the Carabao Cup and balls after the Wolves game.
“You should have seen the look on his face when he got the balls in his hand.
“First he complained that they were too light. Then he said that they were too heavy.
“Next he started moaning about how they were too warm and that some of them were square.
“Dawson tried to make a joke about them being the same shape as a rugby ball and Pep nearly lamped him.”
