Liverpool have wasted no time in rescuing Ronald Koeman from unemployment after the Dutchman was sacked by Everton.
Koeman was sacked after a run of five games without a win, climaxing in a 5-2 defeat at the hands of Arsenal.
The Reds will use Koeman as a defender to replace Dejan Lovren following the Croatian international’s dismal display against Spurs.

An unofficial source for Liverpool, Lee Satchell, said: “As soon as Jurgen Klopp heard Ronald was on the market he made his move.
“After all, how often is it that you get a double Champions League winner for absolutely nothing?
“Throw in four La Liga titles, four Dutch titles and 78 caps for Holland and it’s an absolute no brainer.
“Who cares if he’s 54-years-old.
“If he’s got two legs and a brain he’ll be able to put in better displays than Dejan has lately.
“We heard that Jose Mourinho was also sniffing around as soon as he heard that an experienced defender was on the market.
“It’s just refreshing not to have to chase a defender around for the whole summer before being brutally rejected.
“Ronald couldn’t believe his luck but then neither can Jurgen.
“It’s a win win situation, unless you’re Lovren.”
