John Terry has flown out to South Korea to lift the Under-20 World Cup after England beat Venezuela.
Terry, who was recently released by Chelsea, was just keeping up traditions after he lifted the 2012 Champions League trophy despite not playing in the final win over Bayern Munich.
Everton youngster Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored the only goal as the Young Lions won the country’s first World Cup since 1966, while goalkeeper Freddie Woodman made a vital penalty save in the second half.
But their limelight was stolen by Terry, who turned up in full kit to gatecrash the celebrations and lift the trophy.
England Under-20s kitman Lee Satchell said: “In more ways than one this really was John’s cup final.
“As soon as John heard the kids had won their semi-final he got on the first plane out to South Korea so he could get his hands on the trophy.
“All he’s brought with him are his kit and his boots.”
Terry’s arrival has also strangely coincided with a number of the England squad’s girlfriends ‘disappearing’ mysteriously.
