Club to use microchip implants under the skin as season ticket replacements

This would really kill off ‘using my mate’s brother’s season ticket to go down the Arsenal’ as a reason to get round paying to watch the game.

Argentinian club Tigre are offering a season ticket in the form of a microchip implant under the fans’ skin.

Yes, seriously.

The Primera Division side are set to implement the scheme which would supposedly make it easier for fans to enter the stadium and renew their tickets.

Club general secretary Ezequiel Rosino is launching the initiative by getting the implant underneath his tattoo of the club badge.

Now that’s what you call a true fan.

Rosino said: “It works like a remote ID.

“It won’t ever be compulsory, we don’t want to do anything invasive, the idea is to speed up access.

“I’m the guinea pig. There are supporters who are excited and others who are afraid regarding the chip.”
