A lot has been said about Lionel Messi’s 21-month ‘prison’ sentence for tax fraud.
But nothing has been quite as bizarre as this statement from La Liga president Javier Tebas in Barcelona.

“The only thing I can tell him (Messi) is that from La Liga we believe he isn’t guilty and that he should stay in Spanish football.
“I don’t think Leo Messi is a delinquent.”
Exactly Javier, if La Liga say he’s innocent then what do the courts know?

Tebas added that Spain’s desire to see people working in the country pay their tax could see Messi move overseas.
“Of course I fear that (Messi) could leave,” he said.
Well if Messi doesn’t want to play in Spain then we’ll be happy to have him (providing he pays his taxes of course).
