Football fans can often be accused of holding onto the past a bit too much.
But Lazio have taken that to an entire new level. According to Football Italia the club could be awarded the 1915 Scudetto.
Lazio were due to play Genoa in a game that could have seen the awarded a league title only to be disrupted by World War I.
By the time the war was over Grifone had been handed the league title as the game was never replayed.
However the Federal Council have opened an investigation into the decision with Lazio reportedly hopeful of winning a third league title.
- Lazio have sold an appalling low amount of season tickets for the new campaign
- Lazio claim Marcelo Bielsa quit because he was tapped up for the Argentina job
- Lazio fans dump manure outside of training ground
That would mean Le Aquile drawing level with arch-rivals Roma on three Scudettos.
Unconfirmed reports claim Francesco Totti was actually playing back in 1915, but we’re not able to verify that.
