The best Napoli fan reactions to Gonzalo Higuain’s imminent departure to Juventus

The biggest European transfer saga that doesn’t involve Paul Pogba is about to be completed.

Gonzalo Higuain is set to be named as a Juventus player any day now.

The Argentine forward was Serie A top scorer last season with 36 goals from 35 games for Napoli.

His whole record at the Stadio San Paolo is really rather good – 91 goals in 146 games over the course of three seasons.

And who could forget the spine-tingling reactions to his goals…

Higuain’s performances have persuaded Juventus to fork out over €94million to land their main transfer target.

Once the move is confirmed he’ll become the third most expensive player in history after Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.

Napoli fans aren’t best pleased with idea of losing their main goal threat to their title rivals.

Let’s go through the best reactions…

Toilets very much a constant theme.

Some fans met in the streets of Naples to rip and burn Higuain shirts.

One fan said: “This not the way to behave. Higuain was more than a player for us, he was a symbol and betrayed us without thinking twice. He proved what he’s really made of.

“Diego Maradona would never have done it.”

Funny you should say that as the great Maradona himself posted on his Facebook page: “This Higuain affair is hurting me because he is going to a direct rival like Juventus.

“A player has a responsibility to himself and it is those fat cats of business that are grinning the most in this case. Nobody thinks of the fan.”

Higuain’s face has also been removed from a poster outside Napoli’s training ground.

The 28-year-old forward can expect a ~warm~ reception when he returns to the Stadio San Paolo with Juventus on 2 April.
