Barcelona playmaker Ivan Rakitic hasn’t been around the first-team for a while now, and now looks set to leave the club this month.
And Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City appear to be favourites to snap up the Croatian international.
- Barcelona DROP star player from matchday squad — is he on his way out?
- Remembering when Luka Modric was named worst signing of the year
- Jurgen Klopp won’t sell prize Liverpool asset for any price
Despite being one of the most reliable members of Luis Enrique’s first-team since joining the Catalan giants two seasons ago, Raktic has failed to impress this season.
The former Sevilla midfielder has been largely out of favour at the Nou Camp, with a mixture of poor form and the arrivals of André Gomes and Denis Suarez diminishing his role at the La Liga club.
He was left out of the squad altogether during Sunday’s La Liga trip to Villarreal, and has found himself on the bench more times than not latetly.
But the cultured midfielder has a plethora of suitors, with former Barca boss Guardiola putting Rakitic’s name at the top of his January wishlist.
We’re sure an opportunity to work with Guardiola wouldn’t be the worst case scenario for the Croatia star though.
And he may be exactly the player the coach needs to kick-start City’s pursuit of table-toppers Chelsea in the Premier League table.
