Dutch football legend Johan Cruyff has been diagnosed with lung cancer, according to reports in Spain.
The 68-year-old, who came through the famed Ajax academy, and went on to play for and manage Barcelona, was apparently diagnosed last Tuesday, according to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo.
He is believed to be undergoing tests to discover the extent of the disease.
Cruyff established himself as a household name after a string of dazzling performances for the Netherlands at the 1974 World Cup.
It was at that tournament where he perfected the legendary Cruyff Turn, which has gone on to become one of the game’s classic tricks.
Cruyff has had health troubles before, undergoing a double heart bypass in 1991 when he was still in charge at the Nou Camp.
