Man United will play the second leg of their Europa League tie against St Etienne on a WEDNESDAY.
No, this isn’t an upgrade to a Champions league encounter.
The move comes after local rivals Lyon drew AZ Alkmaar and as both French teams are seeded, both teams will play the second leg at home.
The two cities are only 31 miles apart and for that reason, the decision has been made to move the fixture a day forward, with Lyon having priority due to a higher finish in Ligue 1 last season.
To make things even stranger, the game will also be kicking off at 5.00pm UK time.
The move could have consequences on other fixtures as well, with the Manchester Derby against City potentially being moved back a day or alternatively, to a different week should United reach the EFL cup final.
United’s Europa League fixture will be a chance to see the world’s most expensive player, Paul Pogba, take on this lesser-known brother, Florentin, who plays in defence for Les Verts.
