Pele is arguably the greatest footballer to ever play the beautiful game.
Boasting a lethal combination of strength, speed and an eye for goal, the Brazilian was devastating going forward.
Most teams today would kill for a player like Pele – especially Sunderland, who are languishing at the bottom of the Premier League and facing relegation.
But could signing Pele be enough for David Moyes’s side to turn it around? After all, he is the highest rated FUT Legend you can get in the game.
YouTuber BMOnus – FIFA 17 Career Mode wanted to find out via FIFA 17’s Career Mode – and the results are incredible.

First off, BMOnus created a Pele using his exact stats. Every detail was authentic from his height and weight to individual skill points.
The YouTuber then went ahead and simmed half of the season to see how Pele performed.
Let’s take a look.

It’s certainly a decent start, with Sunderland way off the bottom of the table in 16th.
It’s been a decent performance from the Brazilian legend, too.
In 19 games he’s netted seven goals and bagged three assists.
Interestingly his strike partner, Jermaine Defoe, actually did better than him – with nine goals and two assists.
Let’s see if the pair can continue the momentum for the second part.

Amazingly, Sunderland climbed a few more spots to finish 11th – well clear of the relegation zone.
Pele put in another decent shift, too – scoring 13 goals and six assists.
But it was Defoe who once again stole the show, finishing as the league’s top scorer with 18 goals in 38 appearances.

So, there you have it.
If Sunderland were to sign Pele in his prime, it would definitely keep them well clear of relegation.
That’s if the Brazilian doesn’t mind being upstaged by Defoe.
