FIFA 17’s best goalkeeper isn’t even first choice for his club

When naming the world’s best goalkeepers, Chelsea’s Asmir Begović probably wouldn’t make the grade.

But in FIFA 17, the Bosnian shot-stopper is nearly impossible to beat – and has been referred to as ‘a cat on steroids’ with ‘Neo from the f****** Matrix’ reflexes.

He’s so good, that he frequently outshines the likes of Hugo Lloris, Petr Cech and, dare we say it, Jack Butland.

So, why are fans raving about the Blues reserve shot stopper?

The theory is that developers EA have accidentally made him ‘OP’ – or over powered.

Fans believe that whilst Begović’s 83 rating isn’t anything special, the combination of all of his other stats somehow gel together perfectly – leading to an eclectic combination of reaction time and physical prowess.

The 29-year-old has impressed fans so much, there are forums on Reddit that lavish the Bosnian with praise.

One fan wrote: “Controversial I know but I hate facing Begovic more than I hate facing Butland.

“Just seems to save f****** everything, Butland is beatable, but Begovic just seems to be a cat on steroids.”

Another wrote: “I had Be-god-ovic for about 75+ games and he performed really well. Better than Butland. But somehow when I face him he decides to go Neo from the f****** Matrix and bullet-time stops all my shots.”

Maybe it’s time to give Begović a run out?
