Hundreds of players could be getting their FIFA 17 ratings downgraded

Gamers may have had their first glimpse of FIFA 18 on the Nintendo Switch earlier in the week – but FIFA 17 still has a few surprises in store.

One keen-eyed fan spotted an image that allegedly popped up on EA’s servers, which suggested players are set to get their in-game ratings upgraded or downgraded.

Whilst the image cannot be confirmed as legitimate, it emerged after the gaming giant announced on their website that players will be going through a ‘ratings refresh’ period – set to happen between February 17 – 27.

EA has released player updates throughout FIFA 17’s lifespan as it tries to ensure in-game ratings are as accurate as possible.

Fans were quick to voice who deserved a downgrade on Reddit, with Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo (below) top of most people’s lists.

Some gamers speculate the updates will affect player prices and cause instability in the market. Players who see their ratings slashed will likely fall in price, while those with increased scores will see their values soar.

It’s thought the upgrades and downgrades will replace the existing ‘gold’ cards, rather than be completely fresh ones all together.

Without doubt there are a few players who must be in line for a downgrade, given their poor form in real life.

Manchester United’s Anthony Martial is one of the players who has failed to live up to his ’82’ rating.

We reckon it’s going to be a pretty long list.
