It’s a bit worrying when your goalkeeper struggles with his positioning before the match has even started, right?
But it seems there was a perfectly good reason why Willy Caballero was standing at a noticeable slant during Argentina’s national anthem, ahead of their World Cup group clash with Iceland today.
Eagle-eyed viewers took to social media when they noticed the Chelsea goalie standing at an angle, but it seems the answer is simple.
The Argentina No 1 was rather patriotically looking at his nation’s flag during the national anthem.
No, it wasn’t some kind of protest and it’s certainly not because he hates Lionel Messi.
In fact, if you looked carefully in last night’s clash between Spain and Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo could also be seen facing his country’s flag instead of standing statuesque with his teammates.
And you know what, it worked out pretty well for him, didn’t it?
Amazingly, Caballero is making his competitive debut for Argentina in this match, having faced years of being behind Sergio Romero in the pecking-order.
Romero was ruled out of the World Cup with a knee injury back in May, meaning Caballero – who only has a handful of caps for his country – has been thrown into the deep end at the grand old age of 36.
