Diego Costa + Pepe = one thing and one thing only.
Two of football’s most famous b******** came together during Spain v Portugal and you all know how it ended.
Like two lions fighting it out in the Colloseum, only one was going to survive.
And this time it was Costa that came out on top.
Cristiano Ronaldo had already put Portugal ahead after winning a pretty dubious/concrete (delete as appropriate) penalty after just four minutes.
With Spain rocked and the intricate passing not delivering the goods, it was left to Costa to set things straight.
Costa was going up against Pepe after a long ball and knowing that the Besiktas man is notoriously darstadly, Costa decided to take the initiative.
Costa led with his forearm as he smashed Pepe across the chin, leaving him in a heap on the turf.
He must have learnt it from Sergio Ramos in camp.
But Costa wasn’t finished there.
He picked up the ball and then bullied Portugal’s other centre-back Jose Fonte, muscling him away from the ball before turning him inside out inside the box.
With Fonte seeing stars, the Atletico Madrid hitman expertly stroked the ball into the corner.
It wasn’t the prettiest goal we’ve ever seen but my god it was effective.
But you can be sure Pepe will be biding his time until he can take revenge.
Watch your back Diego.
