Lionel Messi explains what he’ll do if Argentina win the 2018 World Cup

The footballing icon says he will walk over 50 kilometres from Rosario to San Nicolas if they win next year's World Cup in Russia

If Lionel Messi wins the World Cup with Argentina, he doesn’t need to do anything for the rest of his life.

In fact, he probably doesn’t need to do anything for the rest of his life right now considering his phenomenal achievements as a footballer.

But, always one to drive himself onto the next level, the Barcelona superstar has explained what he will do if he were to lead his country to World Cup glory in Russia next year.

Speaking to TyCSports, Messi says he will go full Forrest Gump and walk from his hometown Rosario, to the province of San Nicolas, over 50 kilometres away.

Interviewer Martin Arevalo asked Messi what he would do if he were to lift the trophy, and Leo responded with his promise.

He said: “Let’s go to San Nicolás, if we have to go, let’s go.”

Google Maps claims the journey will take just under 14 hours to do, but considering it’s Messi, we reckon he could probably get to the town in under 10.

Unsurprisingly, people were quick to jump on this promise, with the Argentinian media outlet themselves mocking up this absolute delight.

Go on Leo, do it for the memes.
