THE BASICS

Our Dream Team Game is the biggest and best fantasy football game around, and this season it just got bigger! Dream Team is great fun, easy to play and adds spice to your football season.

This season we have increased the prize money to an amazing £500,000 and given you more than 150 ways to win. This year's Dream Team winner will walk away with a life changing £150,000.

All you need to do is pick a Premier League XI from a fantasy budget of £50million, based on the cash values we have given the players. We have kept our scoring system straightforward. It rewards the things you would expect – like goals, clean sheets and good performances and it punishes leaky defences, bookings and red cards.

Your main job is to decide who you think will perform best over the whole season. The players come in the usual four groups - Goalkeepers, Defenders, Midfielders and Strikers.

Your 11 heroes win or lose points for every match they play in the Premier League,
FA Cup
, Carling Cup, UEFA Champions League (Exc Qual) or UEFA Cup (Exc Qual) throughout 2007-08

Check out the easy scoring system here.

NEW: For matches played on a Saturday there are additional points allocated by the News of the World. The News of the World will publish their 'Dream Team of the Day' on Sundays based on matches played on Saturday.

  • The Goalkeeper selected in the News of the World 'Dream Team of the Day' scores eight points.
  • The top Defender scores eight points.
  • The top Midfielder scores eight points.
  • The top Striker scores eight points.
  • The remaining seven players in the News of the World 'Dream Team of the Day' each score two points.

WINNING Dream Team requires skill. So how can you get an edge? The answer is How To Win At Fantasy Football, a fantastic new Sun book which interviews past winners, breaks their sides down and extracts their keys to victory. It contains a host of tips and stats. Pre-order for £5.50 including p&p and have it delivered by the end of July, in plenty of time to pick your team before the season starts. THE GOLDEN GAMBLE

You have the flexibility to decide when your team starts scoring. Enter your team by 12:15:00 BST on Saturday 11 August 2007 and it will begin scoring from day one of the season, with ALL the eligible games counting towards your total.

But here's where you can take a risk.

You could snap up a bargain in-form player - or avoid being stuck with a striker in a dry spell. It's up to you.

You can choose to enter your team - or an extra team or teams - for a further five weeks after the big kick-off. If you choose this option, see the following dates below.

GOLDEN GAMBLE PERIOD:

(1) Valid confirmed entries received after 12:15:00 BST on Saturday 11 August 2007 and before 12:15:00 BST on Saturday 18 August 2007 will begin to score points from those Eligible Games that kick off on or after 12:15:01 BST on Saturday 18 August 2007
(2) Valid confirmed entries received after 12:15:00 BST on Saturday 18 August 2007 and before 12:15:00 BST on Saturday 25 August 2007 will begin to score points from those Eligible Games that kick off on or after 12:15:01 BST on Saturday 25 August 2007
(3) Valid confirmed entries received after 12:15:00 BST on Saturday 25 August 2007 and before 12:15:00 BST on Saturday 1 September 2007 will begin to score points from those Eligible Games that kick off on or after 12:15:01 BST on Saturday 1 September 2007
(4) Valid confirmed entries received after 12:15:00 BST on Saturday 1 September 2007 and before 12:15:00 BST on Saturday 8 September 2007 will begin to score points from those Eligible Games that kick off on or after 12:15:01 BST on Saturday 8 September 2007.
(5) Valid confirmed entries received after 12:15:00 BST on Saturday 8 September 2007 and before 12:00:00 BST on Saturday 15 September 2007 will begin to score points from those Eligible Games that kick off on or after 12:00:01 BST on Saturday 15 September 2007.

If you take the Golden Gamble the games you miss - up to five rounds of matches if you leave it right until the last minute - will NOT count towards your team's score. However, you will have the chance to study form, avoid injuries and reap the benefit of late signings before the Premier League transfer window closes on 31 August.

THE TRANSFER WINDOW

NEW: Prior to 23:59:00 BST on Monday 6 August 2007, entrants will be able to make unlimited ‘pre-scoring’ transfers through the website.  Pre-scoring transfers will be free of charge.  Pre-scoring transfers will not be available over the telephone line.

The first Transfer Window will run from 12:00:00 BST on Tuesday 9 October 2007 to 12:30:00 BST on Saturday 20 October 2007 (UK time), with transfers taking effect from eligible games played on Saturday 20 October 2007. The second Transfer Window will run from 00:00:01 GMT on Saturday 26 January 2008 to 12:15:00 GMT Saturday 2 February 2008, with transfers taking effect from eligible games played on Saturday  2 February 2008.

Each Transfer Window gives you the chance to boot out injured or under-performing players and replacing them with some fresh talent. Even if your side is not among the front-runners for the top 10 end-of-season prizes, remember there is still plenty to play for. See our prize breakdown here (link).

So give your no-hopers the shove and bring in the star who could make your season.
During each Transfer Window, you can bring in UP TO THREE players and must transfer out the same number. So, you can make one, two or three changes during the transfer procedure (but no more than three changes, otherwise your entry will be void). When you bring in a new player you do NOT get the points he has scored so far. Likewise, points scored by players you transfer out are FROZEN and remain on your overall score.

You must not bust your £50million budget and your team must not have more than two players from any one Premier League club. But just like registration, our easy transfer procedure ensures you cannot go over the limit. Remember, some players have moved clubs in real life but for Dream Team purposes remain with their original clubs.

There will be a charge of £1.50 each time you make transfers during a Transfer Window. This can be paid either by a valid debit/credit card or by calling a special transfer payment hotline. This is a fixed charge no matter whether you make one, two or three transfers.

CHOOSING YOUR SIDE

Study the lists of players by clicking on the Goalkeepers, Defenders, Midfielders and Strikers links. Also, remember to check up on the crucial rules and scoring details.

The player lists open in new pop-up windows and include all the details you need to know, such as their price tags and how many points they scored in Dream Team last season.

Our easy-to-use Register page makes it a doddle to follow the three main rules:

1. Your team's value cannot exceed £50million.
2. You must pick no more than two players from any one Premier League side.
3. Your team must have one Goalkeeper, four Defenders, three or four Midfielders, and two or three Strikers.
